Behind Closed Doors

Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

Still preaching from quarantine, this time from the rectory chapel here in Saranac Lake.  I had a "virtual congregation" of my extended family (via Zoom) as we celebrated both Easter and my grandmother's birthday (she turned 95 yesterday).  That will make some sense of a few of the side comments for you.  Happy Easter!

What Are You Up To?

Easter Vigil in the Holy Night of Easter

Yet another homily from quarantine, preached at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake to a congregation of five: four priests and one musician/reader.  The first words were clipped from the recording: "Lord, what are you up to?  That question must have been on Abraham's mind when he was asked to sacrifice his son, Isaac..."

You can listen to the audio, or watch the video below.

Even Better Than Before

   Fifth Sunday of Lent   A
Another homily from quarantine, preached during Mass offered without a congregation.  This one was video recorded, as well, and you'll be able to watch the entire Mass from St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, NY, (with pastor Fr. Martin Cline as principal celebrant) on the parish's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/stbernardschurchadk/.

A Rabbit at the Well

   Third Sunday of Lent   A

As in so many places, all public Masses are cancelled here in the Archdiocese of Ottawa today because of concern about the spread of the  Corona Virus. This morning I offered Mass for the sisters of the Queenship of Mary Community who live next door to the rectory where I reside. Before Mass, we had a small procession with the Most Blessed Sacrament around the grounds, praying the Litany of the Saints and blessing the city with the Holy Eucharist. May the Lord bless and protect you all!
